The week we got the plague

If you have seen my sister's post, you know last week was a long week for us. If you haven't, here is the story:
On Monday, Kayden and I flew out to Colorado to see my PaPa and his wonderful wife, Ruth. Since Heather lives only 4 hours away, she decided to join us for the week.
The flight went WONDERFUL! When Kayden wasn't sleeping, he was watching Johnny and the Sprites(did you know they are off the air? Sooooo upset about that) or The Little Einsteins. We arrived in Colorado Springs around noon and Heather and the kids got in around 2. Preston and Kayden got to play in the 2 inches of snow on the ground. Kayden has never seen snow so it was great to see what he thought about it. Apparently he thought it looked good enough to eat!

That night my Aunt Alane and Uncle Bill came by for dinner. It was fun seeing everyone but we were TIRED so we soon fell into bed. The next morning, Kayden went to find Preston to play and we found out Preston had been throwing up all night. He seemed to be feeling better(or as Preston would say"I'm feelin' bedderw")We kept the kids separated as long as possible but other cousins were on their way over to play so that didn't last long. Everyone had fun playing and treating Papa like a jungle gym!
So that night is when the fun started. An hour after I put Kayden to bed, he started throwing up. This lasted through the next morning(every hour, on the hour) until the afternoon when my doctor told me to take him to the ER because he had stopped making tears and having a wet diaper. Oh joy, my first ER visit with him is in another state and on top of that, I am now sick as well and spent the majority of the morning either in the bathroom or laying on the kitchen floor.
Once we were admitted(after only an hour, stellar service considering it was an ER), Kayden got a private room and four heated blankets. Anyone who has seen Kayden in action knows he is a little man on the move. You can imagine how sad it was to see him just lay in that hospital bed for 45 minutes without trying to squirm out. The doctor gave him a med called Zolfran to stop the vomiting. He wanted to try that first because he didn't think he would be able to get an IV in him without a specialist and a considerable amount of trauma. Thankfully the meds worked and he was up and playing within 10 minutes. We ended the day with no more vomiting, just a ton of dirty diapers(be glad I didn't post THAT picture... if you are curious, check out my facebook and look at the pictures my cousin, Amber posted)
The next day Preston made his own trip to the ER for the same meds. By this time Heather and I have also been sick and now Papa and Ruth have it as well. The whole house was on saltines and Gatorade for the majority of the trip.

We made it out to Garden of the Gods on Thursday, and quickly realized that we did too much, too fast. We spent the rest of the trip in the basement with Noggin and Playhouse Disney on constantly. Kayden had the best hair day of his life:

and the boys found a ton of nooks and crannies to hide in.

It was wonderful to see everyone, but this goes down as the second worst trip EVER! We are going to re-try this one during the summer.
